Dallas Cowboys Trading For 49ers Quarterback Trey Lance

The San Francisco 49ers have found a taker for Trey Lance, and it’s a surprising one.

San Francisco is trading Lance to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick, according to reports.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported news of the deal, while NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero broke news of the compensation.

The 49ers traded significant capital to move up to the No. 3 overall pick and draft Lance in 2021. He was the third quarterback selected in the first round that year, after Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson and before Justin Fields and Mac Jones.

Unfortunately, injuries hampered his development. In five games as a rookie (two starts), Lance threw for 603 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 168 yards and one touchdown.
